STRATEGIC BUSINESS ASSESSMENT

In today's intensely competitive environment, the ability to receive specific, practical expert insight from a variety of sources is essential . The requirement for a knowledgeable, yet independent, review of many areas of your business is a core offering of The McCormick Jahncke Group.

McCormick Jahncke Group Strategic Business Assessments assist our clients in improving profitable performance by understanding the key drivers in the transportation and logistics activities of their business. We work with our clients to formulate and implement the necessary action steps, and then measuring the resulting benefits. We bring you the appropriate transportation expertise, global contacts, and electronic network to support the recommended action plan.

The McCormick Jahncke Group's Strategic Business Assessment capabilities have been successfully demonstrated across a broad range of transportation elements:

• A manufacturer of intermediate products for the aluminum manufacturing industry was forced to broaden its sources of raw materials from U.S. domestic sources to global availability. While the company had excellent transportation capabilities to support the domestic movements, its exposure to global transportation was minimal.

The McCormick Jahncke Group Strategic Business Assessment incorporated such elements as:

• International regulatory requirements for moving the materials in ships to U.S. and Canadian ports.

• An assessment of hazardous bulk carriage and vessel chartering together with the introduction to bulk ship charterers and brokers who could assist the company in transporting the product.

• Key drivers in the charter negotiation process to minimize cost.

• Participating with the company in the negotiations and development of the transportation elements of the supply chain.

This raw material now moves successfully and reasonably priced from global locations providing the company with a steady source of raw materials and saving millions of dollars in transportation costs and personnel.

• A Strategic Business Assessment was completed for a U.S. Gulf Port to determine the continued potential for its container terminal. An extensive survey of existing and potential ocean carriers and cargo interests was completed and analyzed. Members of the McCormick Jahncke Group, utilizing their global network and practical approach, provided a detailed response for the port’s management.

• A major U.S. shipbuilding company, primarily in the boat and barge market, sought to develop its marketing strategy for the design and building of commercial container vessels. We provided the key marketing and cost drivers in the marketplace which were dramatically different from those the company was using with its other buildings. Utilizing our global contacts, we introduced the company to key ship owners, ship builders, and potential customers. By incorporating our expertise and network, we provided a practical action-oriented solution.
